My sister and her new husband. We stepped out after Thanksgiving dinner to snap a few shots for their Christmas card! They are so photogenic, can’t wait to take more pictures of them.
This is our way of celebrating the end of a busy Thanksgiving week. A large, crispy-on-the-outside-chewy-on-the-inside-cookie. Here is to a great Thanksgiving break, and back to the homework we didn’t get to during the week. Wish me luck in school, it is going to be brutal.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets (don’t be tempted to make them smaller, they aren’t as good (texture is compromised) and trust, you will want them big). Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt or kosher salt on each cookie immediately after removing from oven. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Don’t you dare think about skipping the dash of salt. It is perfect.

This Sunday we made hamburgers! It was actually a first for me, I realized I had never actually made them myself. It’s an easy thing to make when you have some extra ground beef. We won’t have these all too frequently because we can only handle a burger about once a month, and sometimes we go longer than that.
1 lb ground beef
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1tsp Soy Sauce
Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
I then added Avocados, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and some ranch!
Can we even call this recipe? haha oh well…
I want to try this with Sweet Potato fries, because they are my fav.
Seasoned with Rosemary, Pepper, Salt, and Garlic to taste.
