We went to Denver to visit friends & family over the weekend. It was such a treat to see everyone. We went to the rockies game while we were here, & it was a lot of fun.
This is a must! Make sure you go to Little Man’s & get some yummy ice cream. The line was super long, so we went to the express line. Of course, you must get salted oreo. I love salted anything, so it was not a very hard choice to make.
We had a lot of fun visiting Ryan & his family. Makenna even let me wash & brush her hair. Amanda told me it is next to impossible to do so, so I should feel lucky. I did of course, but she didn’t las long before she told me I couldn’t finish brushing her hair.
By the way, before we went on this fun adventure of Archery together, we had a fantastic meal. Ryan & Amanda really treated us. We had the best ribs I have ever had, so good that you do not need any BBQ sauce on them. Anyway, we had a really fun time shooting targets on this holiday weekend.
We were shooting 3D targets & Makenna decided that these ones were here horsey. She kept telling Keedan not to kill the horsey with his bow & arrow, but Keedan keep saying he was going to shoot his arrow. It was so funny! For some reason as long as we pretended that we were not hitting the horsey, Makenna was fine.
There Cheyenne is trying to grab my camera. It was something she loved, & I am just glad we were able to spend time with family & friends over the 4th of July weekend.
OUT OF THE CITY & INTO THE JUNGLE OF THAILAND
So our resort was a little ways from the road. We had to ride a boat to get to this remote place. It was soo cool. We actually stayed in the jungle. It was super pretty, & we were even able to float down this river a time or to.
Might I add that I love doughnuts, & I am going to have to figure out what is different about these, because they were amazing. |
All in all, our trip to Thailand far exceeded our expectations. One question we keep getting from people is why did we visit Thailand? I know maybe it seems random to some, but we like traveling. Why is Thailand any less valid than going to Hawaii on vacation? We want to go to all kinds of places. So there’s that.
TEMPLES, PALACES, & BANGKOK
We went on a fun boat tour in the evening with dinner & everything. Taylor rounded up the guests for a great dance party, it was pretty great. |
We really loved the endless amounts of Buddha encounters throughout our trip. I really do think the religion here is a big part of why these people are the way they are. They have all been pretty humble, loving, & nice.
We have loved visiting the palaces, & learning about the history of Thailand. Also, isn’t it super cool that at every single temple there are monks? They really take this stuff seriously, & I thought it was pretty cool.
TUK TUKS, TIGERS, & OUR FAVORITE EXPERIENCES IN PHUKET
As if you are not sick of all of my Thailand posts, I am going to give you fair warning that we will probably have a few more after this! It was just too much fun. We probably enjoyed exploring the city the most out of a lot of the things on our trip. It was a fun, relaxing day. We rented a motor scooter for a whole $6 for the entire day. Happiness can come that cheap. It is in Thailand. It was hard getting Taylor to get off the bike to hang out at the beach, or stop for lunch. He was in love with riding the coast all day long, & I can’t say I blame him. We had such a good time. Tay even talked me into petting a freaking baby tiger. It costs twice as much to see a baby, but if you are thinking what I am thinking, there is a reason the adult tigers don’t cost that much to hang out with. No thank you, I will pay more to keep my life. We found a wonderful massage lady next to our hotel. She was fantastic, & I really felt like we had become good friends. We came back night after night. $7 dollar full body, 1 hour massage. That is what I call a deal. Groupon, you have been beat!
One of my favorite things was happening upon this local market. We were the only tourists so it made it seem like a super authentic experience. There was lots of food & people working. It was pretty fun. Everything was sooo cheap. like 10 or 30 cents in american money. I knew we were in the local area just for that reason. We knew we had to try something so we tried something a lady was cooking in banana leaf. It ended up being really good! It had banana, coconut & sticky rice all together. Then they grill it over the fire once it is wrapped in banana leaf. So good!
These Tuk Tuk’s here do not mess around. This is what the local people will hop in if they don’t have a vehicle or motor scooter themselves. With the crazy driving, I am pretty impressed I didn’t see any accidents in the city areas.
It’s too bad I didn’t get what this street looks like in action. There are a lot of transvestites in Phuket, & one lady (should I call the person a lady?) wiped Taylor’s mouth with a napkin for him after we had eaten some dragonfruit on an island we were on. One of the funniest moments of the trip for sure!
We finally tried the fish massage/pedicure. It was a lot more interesting than I thought. They really eat at you, & tickle you & it feels like they are eating you alive for 10 minutes. But I will say I had a lot less dead skin when we were done! It was great.
If you go to Thailand, make sure, that you visit Phuket. It is cool experiencing another culture, asian food, & historical sites when you spend some vacationing at a beach.
PNANG BAY & CANOEING
This whole day was pretty dang cool. It was super humid though, so throughout this whole trip my camera wasn’t loving the humidity. Luckily the experience is better than great photos! I am so happy that we were able to go on this because the canoeing was a ton of fun! You can’t tell in the pictures, but we would go through these caves that would open up in the middle, & it was super cool. It felt like we were exploring. I met some nice french speaking girls on our boat, & exchanged what I could remember in french. They were super nice, & told me I knew a lot more than they thought. It was interesting that the water here at Pnang Bay was a lot more green & way less teal than Phi Phi Islands. The water was still pretty clear in some areas, but Thailand has a lot of different colored water. The mountains in the middle of the ocean have been some of the coolest things I have ever seen. I mostly love that it will never become inhabited, it will stay how it is forever. It is perfect!
PHI PHI ISLANDS & RIDING ELEPHANTS
It was a great first day experiencing Thailand. Stay tuned for my next post where I will show you Pnang bay & James Bond Island… |
